I said in my last blog that I wasn't going into politics in this one. But I have so many things I want to go over, I'm just going to make a series of bullet points on whatever's on my mind.

  • This morning, I saw yet another article about Britney Spears fans going nuts about how her family is controlling her finances. This time, it's based on a comment a fan made telling her to wear yellow if she needed help, and she did. While I agree with the #FreeBritney campaign, because I see conservatorship as a form of controlling others, she gets thousands of comments and can't possibly read them all. The odds are that she didn't see the comment and this was coincidence.
  • Lately I've rediscovered the Pluto TV app and I've been binge watching Doctor Who. Seriously, I'd forgotten how good the original run was despite the D-minus grade special effects. I wish the current series was more like it.
  • Because of something I've said in the past, people have asked me what love is. To realize what love is, you have to understand that feelings and reactions are connected by a third factor. (Most don't realize this.) That connection is emotion. Love is the emotion that connects caring to self-sacrifice.
  • For that matter, there is no such thing as self-love. Love is always about the other person. "Self-love" is just an excuse to be selfish.
  • If they know what they're doing, don't bother them. If you bother them, all you succeed at doing is keeping them from becoming better than they could.
  • On that note, I don't learn like a normal person. I'll struggle for a while, than a whole bunch of stuff will suddenly click. This is why my grades weren't as good as they could have been.
  • I'm working on my home office. I have two desks, one facing a window that doesn't have a curtain over it, yet. Robins and squirrels are playing. It's nice living in the woods.
  • I just started watching Hell's Kitchen, Season 11. After three episodes, I think these chefs should all be stripped of their educational credits. All of them.
  • One thing I'm sick of hearing is, "You can't help someone who doesn't want help." This is just lazy. You have to put them in a position that forces them to understand why they must get help. The problem is those (like myself) who want to do it ourselves. Sometimes it works.
  • I've been trying to revamp my professional writer page. I finally figured out how, and it will be up, soon.
  • It's been over TEN YEARS since my first foray into film. I've had a role in several short films and a couple features. I was behind-the-scenes in almost all of them. The exception was Life Insurance Lottery, where I was an extra as a cop. There's a scene where there are two cops briefly on screen as the camera trucks left; I'm the one in the foreground. In another scene, you see the back of my head while two people talk behind me. I was cut out of the other scene I was in.
  • My pet peeve is long waits. This is doubly true of waiting for a responce on inquiries about my stories and poetry. I'm trying to make a career out of writing, so this doesn't help. Then again, in many cases, the longer you wait, the better a sign it is. Right now, it's been 51 days, and they said it could take up to 60.
  • It was recently proven to me how little Americans know about Christian history. I spoke with people who had never heard of John Calvin or Pope Innocent III; who think the Great Schism was between Rome and Paris (it's between Rome and Constantinople, and has lasted almost a thousand years); quote the Epistles and call them the Gospels when never even referencing Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John; or were able to quote the entire verse they refer to, or use an interpretation that doesn't agree with the words. The last is often because it contradicts what they believe, the most common being how James 2:24 contradicts "faith only".
  • If you choose to ignore something, and it doesn't bother you, that doesn't mean it's gone away. It may just be redirected or be growing. In any event, the problem is not solved. Always confront the problem, don't ignore it.
  • Likewise, I can't stand when someone says they have to get new friends. This is just selfishness in its extreme mode. Forgive and forget doesn't mean "forgive you and forget you", it means you accept the mistake and are willing to help them past what caused the issue. It also means you're willing to see what mistakes you make and attempt to correct them. That's the purpose of having friends. Just like the last point, this says to never run from your problems.
  • The meanings of words have been corrupted by personal opinions and refusal to listen. It started with "socialism", and today is embodied in "racism". Racism is a deliberate attempt to suppress a group of people based on the color of their skin. And if the reminders of what it is are destroyed, such as statues, then it will return in force. (See my previous blog.)
  • Don't forget your past. Don't ignore your past. Your past may come back to haunt you. If you can, it's always better to seek out amends, no matter which of you was at fault.
  • Americans don't listen because it's not taught in this country. It's actually a basic skill that is taught in most other countries. The countries where it's best taught and enforced have the best educated people.
  • If I won the lottery, I'd fund my films.
  • I'm finally clearing out the house after I inherited it in 2001. Yes, just now, but there were brief bursts. That's how little time I was given. I'm finding things I shouldn't have had to buy to replace them!
  • I enjoy nature. That's why I love living in the woods. I'll also go to the local arboretum from time to time.

And that's it . . . until next time . . .
